Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), what is it?

Updated: Sep 15, 2023

SFBT Therapists take the stance that when you do not focus on the problem but on creating a desired outcome (a solution) it will move you closer to what you desire in life. Ultimately the problem is not relevant to what we are doing in session with our client. That is not to say that when you walk in, and you tell your therapist that you have anxiety or depression that they are not going to help you. They are going to help you find either your past or the future when that particular concern was not an issue; so that you can focus on the desired outcome.

Focus on Solutions

Working with a SFBT Therapist you work on your problem yourself by moving toward your desired outcome. We have a strong belief that clients have the capability to make changes in their life, no person can solve another person’s problem. You must take action to solve your own problem; no matter how good of a therapist you have, ultimately you must do the work to solve your problem(s).

A SFBT Therapist has a strong belief that their clients can change. It is not merely hope or optimism, it is a deep-down belief that we have that you can do it. We believe you can accomplish what you desire. The anxiety or depression you walk into the office with is not your permanent state, it is merely your current state.

Talk to a SFBT Therapist about change. It will manifest.
